With summer quickly approaching and blossoms around us, we are looking forward to all of the exciting family-friendly activities that Vail Valley has to offer this season. Outside of the plethora of events hosted in town each year, there are so many things to enjoy during your time in Vail. Get inspiration for your upcoming trip with activity suggestions for the whole family!
Be One With Nature
Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is the highest elevation botanical gardens in North America. Featuring an abundance of alpine plants, flowers, and more, take your family to enjoy the vivid colors and learn about horticulture in the mountains.

A 1940s homestead on the bank of Gore Creek houses the Vail Nature Center. The 7-acre facility offers walking trails and interactive programs to learn about the wilderness that surrounds Vail. Dip your toe into anything from wildflower viewing to creekside nature tours or beaver pond tours.

Enjoy the view of Vail Valley from above. Take a ride on the Gondola One (from Vail Village) or Eagle Bahn Gondola (from Lionshead Village) from June to September. Kids ride free!

Get Adventurous
Discover the Vail trails from horseback! No matter your experience level, all are welcome to take in the mountain views while loping through the woods with friends and family. There are many local stables and ranches to choose from, with something for everyone.

Perhaps unusual, this excursion will fall nothing short of fun! Get your group together, choose your route, and hike along these magnificent pack animals. You can make this custom experience as moderate or as difficult as you group's ability allows.

One of the most popular activities in Vail in the summertime is Mountain Biking. With a wide range of trails to choose from scaling from beginner to expert and a plethora of local bike shops, embark on a new adventure this summer with mountain biking. We recommend renting bikes and going on a guided tour if it's your first time out.

Take it Easy
Enjoy a quiet place to work, read, and more at Vail Public Library. Conveniently located next to the Lionshead parking structure, VPL is a place for kids of all ages to spend a quiet afternoon in a good book.

Step up your vinyasa with a pack of small goats! Get your cuddle fix and plenty of laughs as the baby goats jump, bump heads, sleep, and play while you follow the instructor through a flow. Ages 8 and up.

On a rainy mountain afternoon, no place is quite like the movies. Enjoy freshly popped corn, an extensive snack menu, and soft-serve ice cream in a nostalgic setting. Riverwalk rotates the latest movies with something for everyone, creating a perfect way to round out your day.
